This module aims to allow us to develop a working knowledge on existing cultural heritage as well as develop analytical skills on Islamic architecture. Besides that, it intends to integrate Islamic architecture to our designs. It also aims to allow us to develop an understanding of architecture as a physical response to human needs at a philosophical and cultural value. Finally, it aims to use history as an attempt to identify the universal principles of architecture. Through this module, I am able to describe the historical development and identify the issues related to Islamic architecture. I am also able to differentiate the way different factors contribute to the development of Islamic architecture. FInally, I am able to produce, both orally and illustratively, my interpretation of Islamic architecture in relation to the relevant theories in contemporary architectural design.

Research Timeline Analysis
In groups of 5, we were to create an A3 sized timeline based on a selected Asian countries. We decided to choose Malaysia. Individually, we were required to produce a short article and write-up as well as a presentation on our interpretation of the 7 unifying principles of Islamic architecture and the diversifying principle of Islamic Architecture. Through this assignment, I am able to analyze and discuss the relationshop of the principles of Islamic architecture as well as the religious dogmas of faith in relation to the social, cultural, environmental and intellectual context of Islamic architecture. I am also able to differentiate the factors that contribute to the development of Islamic architecture in illustrations and presented orally.

Case Study
[ Islamic Architecture Buildings ]
Individually, we were required to conduct a literature review on a topic that we have chosen. I chose Spiritual Architecture of India. We were then required to select 5 related research papers and conduct the review. Using the information gathered in the literature review, we were to generate 10 questions of mosque spiritual experience. Then in the same groups of 5, we were to choose a mosque, we chose Masjid Jamek, and conduct a research on the mosque's patrons, philosophies, principles, teachings and values of Islam. We were then required to transcribe the interview and produce an observation report in a photography analysis. Through this assignment, I am able to appreciate the value of historical architecture. I am also able to exlain the spiritual and religious aspects of Islamic architecture. Besides that, I am able to understand the sense of place through the eyes of the patrons' spiritual experience. I am also able to describe my understanding of the development of Islamic architectural language. Finally, I am able to create an online account of the literature study and analysis of Islamic architecture.
