Project 1:
Self Expression Through Object
[Representing Me]
This assignment required us to produce and interpretive self portrait representing our characteristics and personalities. Once that was done, we were required to reinterpret the portrait in any form of media we wished to use. We were also required to proudce a write-up of our final piece. In my case, I interpreted my portrait in the form of an abstractive piece. I chose to represent myself through my Hair because it represents my personality as well as my most significant characteristics. After completing this assignment, I was able to abstract the ideas of the "self" and produce a representational piece of art that has been abstracted through a translation and interpretation of the initial piece.
This module aims to introduce us to exploration of architectural design through the expression of the individual's perception of the "self" and the body. This module has helped me to produce design concepts by abstacting ideas from various sources. Besides that, I am able to identify the basic elements and principles of design as well as how they inform space and form. I am also able to relate the idea of the individual ‘self’ and the body to space and its experiential qualities. Besides that, this module has helped open my eyes to materiality and how it affects the experience of a space as well as the five senses. Finally, I understand basic design processes and how to communicate these ideas through orthographical drawings, sketches and models.

My Self Portrait

HAIR
My hair is the most significant part of my identity and is the main component of my art symbolized by the paint. The white boxes represent the obstacles I went through in order to become the person I am today. Cool, colourful and free as my hair.
Project 2:
Self Expression Through Architectural Space
[Me In Space]
Through the exploration of scale and proportion as well as anthropometrics, we were required to produce a 1:1 scale installation, in a group of 3, representing multiple selves. After undergoing this assignment, not only have I realized how important it is to have teamwork, I am also able to understand the process of abstracting more than one idea and producing a space to represent it. Besides that, I am now aware of the basic design principles that enable us to articulate and organize spaces and forms. I am also able to understand the importance of scale and proportion in spaces. My understanding of how human anthropometrics and ergonomics inform space has also improved.

Project 3 :
Space For The Self
[My City Dream Space]
Our final project required us to create a "hideout space" for a character that we've created, by engaging it with walls of a city in one of the 5 movies that were chosen. In my case, we chose the movie Fifth Element which takes place in a futuristic Manhattan cty. In groups of 5, we were to select a city space in the movie and create a site model out of the chosen site. Once that was done, we were to focus on our individual narratives as well as designs. My character is a contemporary artist living in the city who is inspired by the city scape. Based on my narrative, I decided to create a gallery cum private studio for my character. Through this assignment, I was able to produce a space based on my conceptual narrative while articulating the design elements and principles in spatial organizations. Besides that, I am able to further understand the relationship between the human body and space through scale and proportion. Finally, I am able to identify materials that enhances the spatial quality of my design narrative. Through the presentation, I was able to illustrate the poetics of my design's spatial quality by identifying the proper architectural terminologies.
